About
I create sculptures and paintings that are inspired by nature, focusing on water and on intertidal ecosystems. The fascination, curiosity and rejuvenation that are inherent in exploring nature and being near water abound in my original, hand-crafted artwork, designed to infuse your space with these sensations.
Artist Statement
My work focuses on the boundary between water and land; the fluctuating intertidal area between wet and dry that both lures people in and is also fraught with warning. I work both two-dimensionally and three-dimensionally to explore this edge as a constantly changing boundary. This body of work is a reflection on coastal landscapes and their ecosystems, inspired by memories of coastal childhood trips from Maine to North Carolina and by observing intertidal zones throughout southeast Virginia.
